What's in store for January?

My body cleanse is kaput. I was able to keep it up for a week, but when Brian received a Starbucks gift card added with my best friend's Bridal shower..it was gone. But, I am trying to eat fruits and vegetables for breakfast and lunch, and then eat lean meat during the evening.

Either way, I'm trying to eat healthier.

A lot has gone on in the month of January! A lot to deal with for work, a lot to deal with for fertility, a lot everywhere.

But, I'll get to the purpose of this blog, which is fertility. :)

Last we checked in, I had taken my clomid already. Then, a few days after my clomid, I was to do the ovulation predictor kits. Which I did. Never had a positive strip, which is good.

On 1/6, I went back to my fertility doctor. Sad news. Heartbreaking day. My follicles had not grown. They were all at 10mm each. The nurse said I had a bunch of little ones.

After this discovery, we had 3 options
1) Wait a week and see if my follicles grow.
2) Scrap the cycle (meaning no more trying and force a period), then give me a different medication.
3) Scrap the cycle, then give me a higher dose of clomid.

Brian wanted to scrap the cycle. But, this just made my heart drop. I didn't want to have to start all over and go through all the work again. The nurse left us alone to discuss our options. I convinced Brian to wait a week, but the stipulation of taking Soy isoflavones while waiting.

We told the nurse our decision. She said she would wait until the doctor gave the final word, but said she liked our choice. Later that afternoon, the doctor agreed to let us wait a week and I scheduled an appointment for Wednesday, 1/11.

After our appointment that Friday, I went to Wal-mart and bought a bottle of soy isoflavones (a natural version of clomid).

Wednesday, 1/11 was a big day for me. 1) My appointment was at 7:45 that day. 2) My evaluation (for work) was at 2:30 that day. 3) Genny's Bridal dress appointment was scheduled for 5:00 that day. But, I was anticipating it all!

Wednesday came.

We arrive at our doctor's office right at 7:45. We were taken in right away. Nurse Sherri wasn't there so we had a different nurse do the ultrasound. My uterus lining was perfect. She said it was 9mm. The normal is 7mm. My right ovary had 3 follicles...The size to prep for the trigger shot should be 20-22 mm...My follicle sizes were 13mm, 14mm, and 19mm! The 19mm was the perfect one! She was very excited for that!!! I was very excited for that!! My left ovary was eh. She said all ranging from 10-12mm.

It only takes 1 follicle!!

My nurse called me once she got back into the office. She celebrated with me for the 1 follicle. She went on to tell me that I was to give myself the trigger (Ovidrel) shot on Thursday, 1/12. Then we were to have timed intercourse Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

I was nervous as heck to give myself the shot!! Brian and I kept going back and forth as to who would do the shot. Thankfully, Thursday evening, Brian gave me the shot.

Then we had our timed intercourse.

My nurse also told me that on Sunday, I am to take my progesterone suppository. Since today is Monday, yesterday started my first suppository. How interesting that is. And all day today, I'm feeling very slimy. Gross.

Now we are in the TWW (two week wait). Yes the TWW. Hopefully something happens to my little egg that got released sometime Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Hopefully there was plenty of little swimmers that were waiting for the egg.

I made an appointment today for a pregnancy test on Friday, 1/27. That is 15 days after the shot. So we shall see what happens.

I also bought a home pregnancy test if we shall feel desired to test. I'm trying to make a promise to myself not to test anytime before 1/25. I know that the medicine in the ovidrel shot can make me have a false positive. They suggest waiting about 10 days before testing. So if I had the shot on 1/12...I should wait til 1/22.

Just to be safe, I'm going to test 1/25. Then, we'll do the blood test 1/27.

Keep praying for a positive. Brian is very supportive of this being our cycle. I'm just praying that it all works out.

As of right now, keep praying for some sort of growth...some positive news!

If you were wondering...everything else on that Wednesday went well - my evaluation was spot on, Gen's dress fit perfectly (and I learned how to do her bustle)....

I will update you all in a short (haha) 2 weeks! :)
